Vayachel – And He assembled. Shemot 35:1 – 38:20 - By Matthew Moshe Nolan
Elohim has re-embraced Israel and instructed them to build a house in their midst for His presence to be manifest.
Moshe made Israel into an assembly.
Building the House of Israel. We can’t build the house of Judah; we can only build the house of Israel! Now is the time of Vayachel of assembling Israel scattered in the nations.
“Va ya hey qahal Moshe et bal edah’ at bnei Israel” – Literally - “And he did make an assembly, Moshe, intertwined (bal – beit-lamed) congregation children of Israel”.
“Qahal” – Kuf, Hey, Lamed – “those called together”, “a group fully called” Kuf, Lamed, Hey – Behind the revelation is teaching or learning. Meaning – a group fully called seek to understand the whole revelation.
I don’t believe we can be living as fully called unless we have the Testimony of Moshiach, keep the Torah and operate the manifestations Ruach Ha Kodesh.
Vayachel – Qahal: BERESHEET/Genesis 28:3:And EL-SHADDAI bless you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and you shall become a church (assembly, KAHAL, ecclessia) of nations. (the birth of the church) 4And EL-SHADDAI give you the BRACHA of AVRAHAM, to you and to your ZERA with you, that you may inherit the land in which you are a GER which ELOHIM gave to AVRAHAM.
“Et bal edah’ at bnei Israel”. “Intertwined congregation, children of Israel”. Bal – beit-lamed = house of learning. Bal means intertwined, whatever is joined in this way can’t be taken or separated. The numeric value of this phrase is 32 which equals “lev” or “heart” as in we’ll have one entwined heart”. This word was testified to us last Shabbat, and the lev/heart is the focus of this weeks Parsha.

Shemot 35:1 Shabbat.
Articles of the Tabernacle
Shemot 35:4 – And Moshe spoke to all the congregation of the children of Yisrael, saying, This is the thing that YHWH commanded, saying, 5 Take from among you an offering to YHWH: whoever is of a willing lev (Willing = Nadev-Incited, a ready spirit. Lev-Midot – Inner man, seat of courage, emotion, passion and appetite), let him bring it, an offering for YHWH; gold, and silver, and brass, 6 And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats’ hair, And rams’ skins dyed red, and badgers’ skins, and acacia wood, 8 And oil for the light, and spices for anointing oil, and for the sweet incense, And onyx stones, and stones to be set for the shoulder garment, and for the breastplate.10 And every wise (Wise = Chakam- administration, prudent, crafty, cunning) hearted among you shall come, and make all that YHWH has commanded;
Shemot 35:11 The Tabernacle, its tent, and its covering, its hooks, and its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its sockets, 12 The ark, and the poles of it, with the lid of keporah, and the veil of the covering, 13 The shulchan, and its poles, and all its vessels, and the Lechem ha Panayim, 14 The menorah also for the light, and its furniture, and its lamps, with the oil for the light, 15 And the incense altar, and its poles, and the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the hanging for the door at the entrance of the Tabernacle,16 The altar of burnt offering, with its bronze grating, its poles, and all its vessels, the basin and its stand, 17 The hangings of the court, its pillars, and their sockets, and the hanging for the door of the court, 18 The pegs of the Tabernacle, and the pegs of the court, and their cords,19 The clothing of service, to do service in the kadosh place, the kadosh garments for Aharon the kohen, and the garments of his sons, to attend in the kohen’s office.
The Tabernacle offferings presented.
Shemot 35:20 And all the congregation of the children of Yisrael departed from the presence of Moshe. 21 And they came, every one whose lev was stirred up, and every one whose ruach (Ruach = prophetic spirit as a gift) was willing, and they brought YHWH’s offering to the work of the Tabernacle of the congregation, for all its service, and for the kadosh garments. 22 And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing in lev, and brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered a wave offering of gold to YHWH. 23 And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats’ hair, and red skins of rams, and badgers’ skins, brought them. 24 Every one that did offer an offering of silver and brass brought an offering to vuvh: and every man, with whom was found acacia wood for any work of the service, brought it.25 And all the women that were wise in lev did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen. 26 And all the women whose lev stirred them up in chochmah spun goats’ hair. 27 And the rulers brought onyx stones, and stones to be set, for the shoulder garment, and for the breastplate; 28 And spices, and oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense. The children of Yisrael brought a willing offering to vuvh, every man and woman, whose lev made them willing to bring something for all manner of work, which YHWH had commanded to be made by the hand of Moshe.
The artisans called by YHWH.
Shemot 35:30 And Moshe said to the children of Yisrael, See, YHWH has called by name Betzal-El the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Yahudah; 31 And He has filled him (Filled=Male-to overflow, be full, abundance, armed and satisfied) with the Ruach of Elohim, in chochmah, in binah, and in da’at, and in all manner of workmanship; 32 And to design, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, 33 And in the cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of wood, to make all manner of skilled work. 34 And He has put this in his lev that he may teach (Teach=to cast or throw a net, or throw water), both he, and Aholiav (Aholiav= fathers tent, the son of Achisamach, of the tribe of Dan. 35 Them has He filled with chochmah of lev, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the skilled workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of them that do any work, and of those that design skilled work.
The people give more than enough.
Shemot 36:1 Then made Betzal-El and Aholiav, and every wise hearted man, in whom YHWH put chochmah and binah to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the Kadosh-Place, according to all that YHWH had commanded. 2 And Moshe called Betzal-El and Aholiav, and every wise hearted man, in whose lev YHWH had put chochmah, even every one whose lev was stirred up to come to the work to do it: 3 And they received from Moshe all the offerings, which the children of Yisrael had brought for the work of the service of the Kadosh-Place, to make it complete. And they brought to him free will offerings every morning. And all the wise men, that were doing all the work of the Kadosh-Place, came every man from his work that they made; 5 And they spoke to Moshe, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which YHWH commanded to make.6 And Moshe gave an order, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the Kadosh-Place. So the people were restrained from bringing.7 For that which they had was sufficient for all the work to be made; and it was too much.
Only the wise hearted are involved in the construction.
Division of the parsha:
- Command to build the Mishkan.
- Command to donate materials for its construction.
- Command to build the Mishkan.
Fallen Tabernacle of David – connected to the heart and giving of Ruach Ha Kodesh
Command to rebuild the Mishkan –
Acts 15. 8 And YHWH, who knows the levavot, bore them witness, giving them the Ruach HaKodesh even as He did to us; 9 And put no difference between us and them; purifying their levavot by emunah. 10 Now therefore why do you tempt YHWH, to put a yoke upon the neck of the talmidim, which neither our ahvot nor we were able to bear? 11 But we believe that through the favor of Yahushua ha Moshiach we shall be saved, even as they will. 12 Then the entire multitude kept silent, and listened to Bar-Nava and Shaul, declaring what nisim and wonders YHWH had done among the nations by them. 13 And after they had kept silent, Yaakov answered, saying, Men and Yisraelite brothers, listen to me: 14 Shimon has declared how YHWH at first did visit the nations, to take out from them a people for His Name. 4 15 And to this agree the words of the neviim; as it is written, 16 After this I will return, and will rebuild 6 again the Sukkah of Dawid, which has fallen down; and I will rebuild again its ruins, and I will set it up once more: 17 That the remnant of men might seek after the Master YHWH, and all the nations, upon whom My Name is called, 8 said the Master YHwh, who does all these things. 18 Known to YHWH are all His works from the beginning of the olam.19 Because of this, my mishpat is that we trouble not those, who are from among the nations and who are returning 9 to YHWH: 20 But that we write to them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from dahm. 21 For Moshe from old times has in every city those that proclaim his teachings, with his Torah being read in the synagogues every Shabbat.
Command to donate materials for the Tabernacles construction – Gal 5:23, Matt 5:18, 1 Cor 12 and Eph 4. Directly connected with the Lechem Panayim.
Heart/Lev – Trusting with your levim.
Do you trust me and can you see the vision?
Schmuel Aleph 14:1 Now it came to pass upon a day, that Yonathan the son of Shaul said to the young man that bore his armor, Come, and let us go over to the Plishtims’ watch-post, that is on the other side. But he told not his abba. 2 And Shaul stayed in the outskirts of Givah under a pomegranate eytz, which is in Migron: and the people that were with him were about six hundred men; 3 And Achiyah, the son of Achituv, Ichavod’s brother, the son of Pinchus, the son of Eli, YHVH’s kohen in Shiloh, was girded with a ephod shoulder garment. And the people knew not that Yonathan had gone. 4 And between the passages, by which Yonathan sought to go over to the Plishtims’ watch-post, there was a sharp rock on the one side and a sharp rock on the other side: and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh. 5 One edge was on the north over against Michmash, and the other south over against Givah. 6 And Yonathan said to the young man that bore his armor, Come, and let us go over to the watch-post of these uncircumcised: it may be that vuvh does work for us: for there is no limit for YHWH to save by many, or by just a few.
Yonatan tells his armor bearer, whom he had requested to follow him into the battle two things.
- It MAY be that YHWH will work for us.
- There’s NOTHING TO PREVENT YHWH from saving us.
Would this instill great confidence? Not a whole lot to go on!
The armor bearer’s response:
Schmuel Aleph 14:7 And his armor-bearer said to him, Do all that is in your lev: turn and see, that I am with you according to your lev.
Because the armor bearer knew the heart of the leader, he could trust him. When things aren’t clear, trust leads to safety.
Mishle 3:5 Trust in YHWH with all your lev; and lean not to your own binah.6 In all your derachot acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
- True covenant relationship is trusting when you don’t understand.
- When YHWH leads in a way your mind cannot fathom, trust is the key to continuation. Remember the natural man cannot comprehend the things of the spirit.
- “Lev” – “to know the mind and understand the vision of”.
- Armor without vision will perish.
- Synagogue without vision will perish.
- Don’t be ignorant of the vision to which you are a part. I call this the spirit of the ignorant armor bearer.
- Many fail to press on to their high calling because of a spirit of offense.
- The natural lev/heart is the determining factor for the natural life-is that all we want? If my lev/heart isn’t working properly, then I can’t live a full ruach filled life.
- Yahushua had a heart of pure gold. He revealed His lev to all. When Lazarus died He cried. He revealed His lev to the moneychangers. He revealed His lev when revelation remained hidden to the religious spirits, but was revealed to babes.
Matthew 15:7 You hypocrites, well did Yeshayahu prophesy about you, saying, this people draws near to Me with their mouth, and honors Me with their lips; but their lev is far from Me. 9 But in vain they do worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.
Melech David prayed for a “clean lev and a right ruach”. The two are connected. If we get deliverance, its because a clean heart produces a right spirit. True power over unclean spirits comes by not allowing them to have a part of your heart. Clean hearts promote clean consciences. Our heart determines the quality of life we live. The quality of life we live affects our ability to be effective in ministry.
Only two types of people can fulfill the call to build the fallen Tabernacle of David:
1 Cor 12:4 Now there are diversities of the gift (Charisma – singular, a neuter noun – gift. Charismata is the plural and is absent from the text), but the same Ruach. 5 And there are differences in callings, but the same Master YHVH. 6 And there are diversities of powers and manifestations, but it is the same Eloah who works all and through all. 7 But the manifestation of the Ruach is given to every man to profit himself and all others.8 For to one is given by the Ruach the word of chochmah (Wise hearted); to another the word of da’at by the same Ruach 9 To another emunah by the same Ruach; to another the gifts of healing by the same Ruach; 10 To another the working of nisim; to another prophecy; to another the discerning of the emet Ruach; to another divers kinds of languages; to another the interpretation of diverse languages: 11 But all these are done by that one and the same Ruach, dividing to every man individually as He will.(Willing hearted)
I Cor 12:28 And YHWH has set some in the Yisraelite congregation, first shlichim, secondarily neviim, thirdly rabbis, after that nisim, (YHWH works differently in every Yisraelite’s life). then the operation of healings, helpers, leaders, and diverse languages. 29 Are all shlichim? Are all neviim? Are all morim? Are all workers of nisim? 30 Do all have the operation/from the gift, of healings? Do all speak with diverse languages? Do all interpret?
I Cor. 12:31 But seek earnestly the best gifts (the best for the situation): and yet I will show you a more excellent Halacha. (The more excellent way is to operate ahava, and all the manifestations because you will it, willingly with your heart).
The two types of people that can fulfill the building of the fallen Tabernacle of David.
- The wise hearted – the gift in an operation.
- The willing hearted – the gift in operations.
- The willing hearted, donate the materials – Shemot 35:4-9.
- The wise hearted, build the Mishkan – Shemot 35:10-20.
- 1 Corinthians 12. Willing FIRST then the wise.
The willing operate the gift into manifestations, they are bringing all the materials needed – 9 operations and the wise excel in the operation of “word of Chocmah” that builds up the body – Tabernacle of David – all 12 tribes.
In each stage of construction in our parsha there’s always, first the willing (the gift in operations “distributing to each one individually as he wills-your willing” I Corinthian 12:11) then the wise (the gift in an operation – Chocmah-Devar/word of wisdom-your wise. I Corinthians 12:8.
Torah: Moshe Rabainu had support from the chief architect – Bezze-al.
Haftarah: Melech Schlomo had support from the gifted artisan Hiram.
Brit Chadasha: The Rosh pina/Yahushua has support first from Schlichim, second Nevi’m and third rabbis.
Verbal parallelisms: 4 Hebrew phrases: Chocmah/wisdom, tevunah/ability, da’at/knowledge and khol mela khah/executing all work/gifts.
Torah: Bezzeal was endowed with wisdom – “Chocmah”, ability – “tevunah” and knowledge – “da’at”, “in every kind of craft”, “u ve khol mela khah” – Shemot 35:30-31.
Haftarah: Hiram was endowed with skill -“Chocmah”, ability – “tevunah” and knowledge – “da’at” “for executing all work” “Khol mela khah” in bronze. Melakim Aleph 7:14.
Brit Chadasha: Schlichim are given the ability “tevunah” to operate the gift in word of knowledge “da’at” and for executing all the work “khol mela khah” of Ruach Ha Kodesh in 9 operations to build the fallen Tabernacle of David.
Sod: I Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the diverse languages of men and of heavenly malachim, and have not ahava, I am become as sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal/ kymbalon – A hollow tube of gold or brass through which air passes producing a musical sound.
I’m going to take this all the way back to the parsha and connected it at the point of origination: Lechem Ha Panayim and its connection to I Corinthians 12-14.
(PowerPoint) Shemot 37:10. And he made the shulchan of acacia wood: two cubits was the length of it, and a cubit the width of it, and a cubit and a half the height of it: 11 And he covered it with pure gold, and made on it a keter of gold all around. 12 Also he made on it a border of a handbreadth all around; and made a keter of gold for the border of it all around. 13 And he cast for it four rings of gold, and put the rings upon the four corners that were in the four legs of it. 14 Opposite the border were the rings, the places for the poles to bear the shulchan. 15 And he made the poles of acacia wood, and covered them with gold, to bear the shulchan.16 And he made the vessels, which were upon the shulchan, its dishes, and its spoons, and its bowls, and its jars for pouring with, pure gold.
- One of the three public meat offerings – Lechem Ha Panyim.
- The Showbread, comes from Luther’s translation, Shaubrod. The scriptural name is “Bread of the face”, that is “of the presence of YHWH”. The rabbis acknowledge the showbread is an emblem of Moshiach.
The incoming priests prepared the bread before the Shabbat. Twelve loaves/cakes according to the 12 tribes of Israel arranged in two piles each of six cakes – two rows. The new bread simultaneously replaced the old bread once the Shabbat was underway. The old bread was divided up and eaten during the Shabbat by the Coheniem.
- As Coheneim we’re to eat of His bread, His presence on Shabbat. Challlah bread is derived from this, with its 12 hills and valleys/braids.
SOD. Shemot 37 V.16, its bowls – mĕnaqqiyth – “ bowl or hollow tube through which air passes”.
The Rabbis regard the Hebrew term Menaqqiyth as referring to hollow golden tubes which were placed between the showbread so as to allow the air to circulate between the cakes. Three of these tubes being put under each cake/loaf, except the highest under which only two were put, while the lowest rested on the table itself, or rather the golden dish that was upon it. Therefore they calculate that there were 28 golden pipes in all that were placed within the body of the bread, His presence, which facilitated the free flow of air/ruach to all parts.
28 pipes – though Rav Shaul may have pipe of tongues in diverse languages of men and angels, if he doesn’t have the pipe of love to support the body/cakes all will come tumbling down and their use will only be good for making musical sounds instead of allowing the Ruach Ha Kodesh/air to flow freely through the body of bread – you.
28 pipes.
- 9 fruits of the spirit of which the first is love, Galatians 5:23.
- 5 books of Torah – our covenant of love upon our hearts – willingly.
- 5 fold ministry to allow the cakes to endure and not grow stale, Ephesians 4:11.
- 9 operations of Ruach Ha Kodesh, which brings the rushing, wind, His very presence through the body of cakes, the body of Moshiach, I Corinthians 12:7.
Eat some crow – falling backwards.
“The bread of laying out” The table of Showbread was arranged/laid out lengthways of the Temple.
If the bread of presence overcomes you it’s appropriate to be laid out.
We want to experience His Presence and His light – the Menorah.
Shemot 37:17 And he made the menorah of pure gold: of beaten work he made the menorah; its shaft, and its branch, its cups, its knobs, and its blossoms, were the same.
(PowerPoint)
Yeshayahu 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Yishai, and a Netzer-Branch 1 shall grow out of His roots: 2 And the Ruach Hakodesh of YHWH shall rest upon Him, the Ruach of chochmah and binah, the Ruach of counsel and might, the Ruach of da’at and of the fear of YHWH.
Shemot 38:1 (The altar of burnt offering) And he made the altar of burnt offering of acacia wood: five cubits was the length of it, and five cubits the width of it; it was foursquare; and three cubits the height of it.2 And he made the horns of it on the four corners of it; the horns of it were of the same: and he covered it with brass.3 And he made all the vessels of the altar, the pots, and the shovels, and the basins, and the flesh hooks, and the firepans: all the vessels of it he made of brass. 4 And he made for the altar a brass-grated network, under its rim, midway from the bottom.5 And he cast four rings for the four ends of the grate of brass, to be places for the poles. 6 And he made the poles of acacia wood, and covered them with brass. And he put the poles into the rings on the sides of the altar, to lift it; he made the altar hollow with boards.
The altar was made of un-hewn stones. We’re to be living stones.
Crossing the bloodline. Not some nice New Testament saying. There would be a red line all around the middle of the altar that marked above it the blood of the sacrifices was to be eaten, below it that of sacrifices wholly consumed, was to be sprinkled. If you crossed the bloodline as a Cohen in an inappropriate order you could die!
There’s a lot of apocalyptic talk about death in our community.
- Prophecy always brings comfort, peace and edifies the brethren.
Fig tree/Fig wood
- The fuel used upon the Temple altar was fig wood. Fig wood is associated with the Temple altar, whereas the olive tree represents Israel.
Fresh look at Matt 24:32
Matthew 24:32 – Now learn a parable of the fig eytz; When its branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer fruit is near 33 So likewise, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Truly I say to you, this tribe shall not pass, until all these things are fulfilled.
The vision: I believe this to be reference to the Temple altar, not the nation of Israel. Today The State of “Israel” only qualifies, from a scriptural standpoint as The State of Judah. The name Israel was given to the house of Yoseph/Ephraim and will only be realized when “the bow of Judah is filled with the arrows of Ephraim” – Zech 9. That will be the return of the house of Yoseph/Ephraim.
The house of Yoseph will not return or be sent out by the hands of politicians, not rabbis, not pastors. For the house of Yoseph to return, Yoseph must have everything set in order so it can function, it’s rabbis and teachers have to be girded up. Then…….. the Apostle who’s received the teaching from the rabbi, had the vision confirmed by the Nevi or Neviyah will send/Shelach/Sholiach The House of Yoseph home!
