SH’MOT/Exodus 12:14 & 27: Now this day will be a memorial to you and you shall celebrate it as a feast to YHWH; throughout your generations, you are to celebrate it as a permanent ordinance. It is a Passover to YHWH Who passed over the houses of the sons of Y’ISRAEL in MITZRAYIM/Egypt when He struck the MITZRIM/Egyptians.
Lighting the PESACH Candles
The REBBETZEN/woman of the household lights two candles and prays:
“Blessed are You, YHWH ELOHAYNU, King of the universe, Who has brought us safely through another year and blessed us with PESACH as a celebration of Your goodness. We thank you tonight for YAHSHUA, our Savior and MOSHIACH, Who is the Light of the World.”
All participants:
“At one time we were separated from MOSHIACH YAHSHUA, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise … but now in MOSHIACH YAHSHUA, we who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of YAHSHUA.”
Removal of the CHAMETZ/Yeast
Before the sun sets and we sit down for our SEDER, it is customary—as well as commanded by the TORAH—to remove all “CHAMETZ” from the home. The “CHAMETZ” is any food that‘s been leavened with yeast, especially the five grains of wheat, barley, spelt, rye, and oats. MATZO is unleavened bread so it’s okay! (from SH’MOT/Exodus 12:15)
All participants:
“Blessed are You, YHWH ELOHAYNU, Creator of the Universe, Who makes us holy with Your MITZVOT/commandments and who commanded us concerning the removal of CHAMETZ.”
The Unleavened Bread Is Broken
The RABBI/head of household reads:
“The three pieces of MATZO/unleavened bread are called ECHAD/unity. This symbolizes the unique unity of YHWH: the Father, Son, and RUACH KODESH/Holy Spirit.”
At this point in the SEDER, the RABBI breaks the middle piece of MATZO and says:
“The breaking of the middle piece of MATZO, which represents YAHSHUA, symbolizes His death. One-half of the MATZO is wrapped in a napkin and hidden underneath a pillow, picturing YAHSHUA’S burial. This piece is called the AFIKOMAN.”
The RABBI puts the other piece back in the middle of the other two and says:
“This is merely tradition and Jews all over the world today don’t know what it means or where it came from, but to us believers in YAHSHUA, the meaning is obvious!”
The Invitation
RABBI:
“Let all who are hungry come and eat … for YAHSHUA, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed. Let us, therefore, celebrate the feast!” (1 Corinthians 5:7-8)
The Question
The children ask this question:
“Why is this night different from all other nights? What does this celebration mean?”
RABBI:
“It will come about when your children say, ‘What does this celebration mean?’ that you shall say, “It is a PESACH to YHWH Who passed over the houses of the sons of Y‟ISRAEL when He smote the Egyptians but spared our homes.’”
(SHEMOT/Exodus 12:24-27)
Freedom From Mitzrim/Egypt
Four cups (or drinks) using wine or grape juice are consumed during the evening. Why four? They serve as a reminder of the four references to freedom that are mentioned in SHEMOT/Exodus Chapter 6.
First Cup ~ Instruction
Pour cup of wine or grape juice.
RABBI prays:
“Blessed are You, YHWH ELOHAYNU, King of the Universe, Who brings forth the fruit of the vine and Who gave the blood of Your Son YAHSHUA in redemption.”
“Therefore, say to the children of Y’ISRAEL, I am YHWH and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the MITZRIM … (SHEMOT 6:6a)”
All:
“We, Y’ISRAEL suffered as slaves in Egypt, but YHWH delivered us out of the hand of the enemy by His Mighty Hand and Outstretched Arm.”
Drink from your cup (or drink the whole cup).
The Ten Plagues
RABBI:
“MOSHE returned to Egypt and went to see the Pharaoh with his brother AHARON as his spokesperson. ‘Let my people go!’ Moses demanded. But Pharaoh had a hardened heart and refused. Then YHWH said to MOSHE, ‘Now shall you see what I will do to Pharaoh; for with a strong hand shall he let them go and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.’ (SHEMOT/Exodus 6:1)”
“Through Moses, YHWH brought forth ten plagues on Egypt. The first plague was blood. The second plague was frogs. The third plague was flies. The fourth plague was pestilence on the livestock. The fifth plague was boils. The sixth was a plague/pestilence on the Egyptian people. The seventh plague was fiery hail. The eighth plague was locusts. The ninth
plague was darkness. The tenth plague was the killing of the firstborn.”“And YHWH said to MOSHE, ‘Yet will I bring one more plague upon Pharaoh and upon MITZRAYIM; afterward, He will let you go from here. When he shall let you go, he shall surely drive you out from here altogether.’ (SHEMOT 11:1)”
“And MOSHE said, ‘This says YHWH, About midnight will I go out into the midst of MITZRAYIM, and all the BACHOR in all the land of MITZRAYIM shall die, from the BACHOR of Pharaoh who sits upon his KESAY, even to the BACHOR of the female EVED who is behind the mill, and all the BACHOR of the beasts. And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of MITZRAYIM, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it anymore.’ (SHEMOT 11:4-6)”
“Now it came about at midnight that YHWH struck all the BACHOR in the land of Egypt. Pharaoh arose in the night, he and all his servants and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was no home where there was not someone dead. Then he called for MOSHE and Aharon by night and said, „Rise and get out from among my people, both you and the children of Y’ISRAEL, and go and worship YHWH as you have said.’ (SHEMOT 12:29-31)”
“Now YHWH said to MOSHE and AHARON, ‘Speak to all the congregation of Y’ISRAEL saying, On the tenth of this month, they are to take a lamb for each household … Your lamb shall be an unblemished male, a year old … You shall keep it until the 14th day … then kill it at twilight. Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. And they shall eat the flesh that same night, roasted with fire.”
“They shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs … You shall eat it in haste – it is YHWH’s PESACH. For I will go through the land of Egypt that night and will strike down all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and I will execute judgments against all the gods of Egypt. I am YHWH. And the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live. When I see the blood, I will pass over you and no plague will come upon you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.’ (SHEMOT 12:3-13)”
All:
“Blessed is He Who kept His promise to Y’ISRAEL. YHWH brought an end to bondage and fulfilled His promise to Abraham: ‘Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated 400 years. But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions.’ (BERESHEET/Genesis 15:13-14)”
The Second Cup ~ Sanctification
Pour cup of wine or grape juice.
RABBI:
“… And I will deliver you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great MISHPATIM/judgments.” (SHEMOT 6:6b)
“In the same way, all of us were held in slavery and bondage to sin. Through YAHSHUA, our Passover Lamb, YHWH delivered us. He set us free to live for Him.”
All:
“So Passover is a celebration of YHWH‘s love for all mankind. It celebrates our release from slavery in Egypt and the redemption of all mankind from slavery to sin.”
Drink from your cup (or drink the whole cup).
Three Essentials of Passover
RABBI:
“RABBI GAMALIEL, who taught the Apostle Paul, said, ―He who does not speak forth these three essentials of the Passover SEDER has not discharged his duty: namely, the Passover sacrifice, unleavened bread, and bitter herbs.”
The Bitter Herbs
The RABBI lifts up the bitter herbs:
“These are the MAROR/bitter herbs which we will eat.”
All:
“They picture the bitterness and sorrow of Y‘ISRAEL, when we were held captive in Egypt and oppressed by our cruel masters. (from SHEMOT/Exodus 1:14)”
Pass the bitter herbs.
RABBI:
“These bitter herbs symbolize the bitterness of slavery and Y’ISRAEL‘S miserable existence in Egypt. To us as Y’ISRAEL (EPHRAIM and YAHUDAH), the eating of bitter herbs also reminds us of our lives before we knew YAHSHUA. They are symbolic of the bitter cup YAHSHUA tasted on our behalf.”
Eat the bitter herbs (often horseraddish).
All:
“The bitter herbs bring tears to our eyes as we taste it and remember.”
The Passover Sacrifice
RABBI:
“This lamb pictures the lamb slain in Egypt to set Y’ISRAEL free from bondage.”
All:
“YHWH passed over the houses of our fathers in Egypt. As it is said, ‘It is YHWH’s Passover, for He passed over the homes of the children of Y’ISRAEL when He killed the Egyptians; He passed over our homes and did not destroy us.’ (SHEMOT 12:27).”
RABBI:
“The children of Y’ISRAEL were told how to protect themselves from the last plague. Each family was to take a lamb and kill it and drain the blood into a basin, Then they were to take a bunch of hyssop and dip it into the blood and strike the lintel and the two side doorposts of the house where they eat it. In doing this, they obeyed YHWH and were passed over and saved from death through the Sacrificed Lamb of YHWH.”
All pray:
“YHWH, we thank you that You gave Y’ISRAEL a place of protection under the blood of the Passover lamb. We now take this meal with thankful hearts, remembering Your faithfulness and love for Your people. We pray that all men and women everywhere would discover the place of blessing and protection You have provided under the blood of YAHSHUA, who is the perfect Passover Lamb.”
Eat the Passover meal.
During the meal – MATTITYAHU 26:23: “He who dips his hand with me in the dish will betray me,” (referring to the KARPAS).
The Unleavened Bread
RABBI:
“In Passover, we not only remember the lamb slain in Egypt, we also celebrate the true Lamb of YHWH, the Moshiach, Who was sacrificed to bear the sin of the world. HANAVI/the prophet YESHAYAHU wrote:
“Surely He took up our infirmaries and carried our weaknesses … He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon us, and by His wounds we are healed. … He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth … He was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of My people, He was stricken. It was YHWH’s will to crush Him and cause Him to suffer, and though YHWH makes His life a guilt offering, He will see his offspring and prolong His days … He poured out His life under death and was numbered with the transgressors. For He bore the sins of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.’ (YESHAYAHU/Isaiah 53:4-5, 7-12)”
All:
“The next day, YOCHANAN saw YAHSHUA coming to him and said, ‘Behold the Lamb of YHWH Who takes away the sin of the world.’ (YOCHANAN/John 1:29)”
Song: SONG OF TRIUMPH
The RABBI takes out the AFIKOMAN and reads:
“This is the broken piece of MATZO that was hidden earlier in our SEDER. The unleavened bread is a picture of the body of YAHSHUA. It is made of pure flour and water, without yeast. When the dough is prepared, it is pierced and striped with a pointed tool to fulfill the prophesy of YESHAYAHU 53:5.”
“When this loaf was broken at the start of the SEDER, it symbolized YAHSHUA’S death. When the loaf was wrapped in linen, it spoke prophetically of the wrapping of His body in linen after they impaled Him on the tree. When the broken and wrapped bread was put under the pillow, it symbolized His burial in the tomb of YOSEPH of Arimathea (MATTITYAHU 27:57-60).
Now we remove the pillow, picturing the stone that was removed by the angel in (MATTITYAHU 28:1-2).
The MATZO is unwrapped and held up for all to see. This symbolizes the resurrection of YAHSHUA.”
All:
“On the first day of the week at early dawn, they came to the tomb … They found the stone rolled way … Two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing and said to them, ‘Why do you seek the Living One among the dead? He is not here. HE HAS RISEN!’ (LUKA 24:1-6)”
The RABBI breaks the afikoman and passes it to all, and says:
“This is the place in the Passover celebration which was recorded in HASEFER LUKA/the book of Luke: ‘Having taken some bread, when He had given thanks He broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.’ (LUKA 22:19). Blessed are you, YHWH ELOHAYNU, King of the Universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth and Who gave YAHSHUA, the Bread of Life.”
All eat the bread.
The Third Cup ~ Redemption
Pour cup of wine or grape juice.
RABBI:
“Blessed are You, YHWH ELOHAYNU, King of the Universe, Who brings forth the fruit of the vine and Who gave the blood of Your Son YAHSHUA in redemption.”
“This is the third drink of cup of wine in the traditional SEDER and it is the most significant. ‘And I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great MISHPATIM…’ (SHEMOT 6:6c)”
The RABBI lifts the cup:
“This cup is called the cup of redemption. At this point in the SEDER, YAHSHUA lifted the cup and said, ‘This cup is the renewed covenant in My blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of Me.’ (QORINTYAH ALEF/1 Corinthians 11:25)”
Drink from your cup (or drink the whole cup).
All:
“Thank you, YHWH, for all the favors You have bestowed upon us! You led us out of Egypt, slavery, and oppression. You brought the plagues against the Egyptians, slew their firstborn, and brought us their wealth. You split open the Red Sea, then drowned our oppressors. Thank You for taking care of us in the desert for forty years. You fed us manna, gave us the SHABBAT, then brought us to Mount Sinai to give us the TORAH and Your commandments. Thank You, O YHWH, for bringing us to the Land of Y‘ISRAEL, making us a great nation.”
The Fourth Cup ~ Praise
Pour cup of wine or grape juice.
RABBI:
“Blessed are You, YHWH ELOHAYNU, King of the Universe, Who brings forth the fruit of the vine and Who gave the blood of Your Son YAHSHUA in redemption.”
“‘And I will take you to me for a people and I will be your ELOHIM and you shall know that I am YHWH your ELOHIM …’ (SHEMOT 6:7a)”
Drink from your cup (or drink the whole cup).
SHEMOT 6:6-9:
“Therefore, say to the children of Y’ISRAEL, „I am YHWH and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the MITZRIM and I will deliver you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with an Outstretched Arm, and with great MISHPATIM. 7 And I will take you to me for a people and I will be your ELOHIM and you shall know that I am YHWH your ELOHIM, who brings you out from under the burdens of the MITZRIM. 8 And I will bring you into the land, concerning which I did swear to give it to AVRAHAM, to YITZCHAK, and to YAAKOV; and I will give it to you for a heritage; I am YHWH. 9 And MOSHE spoke this to the children of Y’ISRAEL but they listened not to MOSHE because of their anguish of RUACH and cruel bondage.”
