Ezekiel 9:6 slay utterly the old man, the young man and the virgin, and little children and women; but come not near any man upon whom is the mark: and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the old men that were before the house.
This is how the judgment begins and will begin in the Great Tribulation;
First; the old men who should have known better and steered the next generation toward righteousness;
Second; the young people who have the strength and energy to stand up and drive back evil;
Third; the mothers who failed to raise their children in the way, to resist paganism and religious syncretism;
And lastly; the children who succumbed to the spirit of the time and died with their guilty seniors.
Ezekiel 9:9 Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is very, very great.
Their iniquity is greater than Sodom to which יהוה declared as: ‘very grave’ (only one ‘very!’)
Ezekiel 10:1 Then I looked, and behold, in the firmament that was over the head of the cherubim there appeared above them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.
Do you see ‘’the higher calling’ linkage to Mount Sinai and the Book of the Covenant calling?
Just as with the ratifying of the Book of the Covenant and the Melchizedek priesthood came the firmament of the heavens and the sapphire stone, followed by the Ten Commandments.
Here we see the converse; the desecration of the Book of the Law and the Levitical Priesthood followed by the ‘Ten steps of departure’ of the Glory of יהוה!
As an epoch in Israel’s history comes to a close, as the Torah ceases to be a tangible reality within them then, the withdrawal of the Torah and the glory of יהוה should be accompanied by the same circumstances of its giving.
Ezekiel 10:2 And he spake unto the man clothed in linen, and said, Go in between the whirling wheels, even under the cherub, and fill both thy hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.
This vision took place in the 6th year (8:1);but Yahusha; the man in linen must have taken hold of the coals Himself allowing them to cool for five years; we know the burning destruction of Jerusalem didn’t happen until the 11th year. WoW!
Ezekiel 10:3-5; 3 Now the cherubim stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court. 4 And the glory of יהוה mounted up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of יהוה ‘s glory. 5 And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of Elohim Almighty when he speaketh.
יהוה has gone to the nations, the outer court!
Ezekiel 10:6-12; 6 And it came to pass, when he commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, Take fire from between the whirling wheels, from between the cherubim, that he went in, and stood beside a wheel. 7 And the cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubim unto the fire that was between the cherubim, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed in linen, who took it and went out. 8 And there appeared in the cherubim the form of a man’s hand under their wings. 9 And I looked, and behold, four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside one cherub, and another wheel beside another cherub; and the appearance of the wheels was like unto a beryl stone. 10 And as for their appearance, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been within a wheel. 11 When they went, they went in their four directions: they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went. 12 And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.
Ezekiel 10:13-14; 13 As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing, the whirling wheels. 14 And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of the cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third face the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.
Ezekiel 10:15-16; 15 And the cherubim mounted up: this is the living creature that I saw by the river Chebar. 16 And when the cherubim went, the wheels went beside them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the wheels also turned not from beside them.
James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, and the sinful world a forest: so is the tongue among our members, it can defile the whole body, and sets on fire the course of our Yisraelite race that rolls on like a wheel; and it burns on with the fire of Gei-Hinnom.
V.6 ’Sets on fire the course of our Israelite race that rolls on like a wheel.’
‘Ton trochon te’s genesis.’
If we can’t control our tongue we will destroy our return to the Genesis cycle of covenants – the covenants that roll out from Genesis 12 – 15 & Exodus 19 like a wheel, and set aflame our Yisrealite race form being a Kingdom of Priests and a holy nation!
Was it not the tongue of the Israelite race that proclaimed, ‘Come, make us gods that shall go before us, for as for this Moshe, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.’
Was it not the tongue of Aaron that proclaimed, ‘This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt.’
Was it not the tongue of these elders that proclaimed; “יהוה seeth us not; יהוה hath forsaken the land.”(8:12).
Israel broke the cycle from Genesis, the wheels of the covenant in Ex 32 and how did Moshe choose to destroy their folly?He set it aflame just as the man in linen is about to set aflame Jerusalem here!
A wheel/cycle wears a rut into the ground; cycle and ox are synonymous Hebrew words, Oxen tread grain in a cycle tied to a threshing wheel. ‘Ox’ and ‘cycle’ can be the same Hebrew words.
YHWH’s commandments; His Sabbaths, His Feasts are a cycle that is designed to wear a rut in our lives down to the next generations; making it easier for them to walk in His ways and see His path. The more you do it, the more a part of your life it becomes – guarding you against idolatry and apostasy and securing your posterity.
The outer wheel is slower; representing the 7000-year plan of יהוה and the inner wheel is faster representing the turning of the yearly cycle of Sabbaths and Feasts – the returning cycle of the commandments of righteousness.
The priests and the elders had corrupted the inner wheel by forsaking the Feasts of יהוה and replacing them with the days and worship of Tammuz and Baal Pe’or, by corrupting the inner wheel they weren’t able to discern the coming judgment of the outer wheel in the 7000 plan of יהוה.
Ezekiel 10:17 When they stood, these stood; and when they mounted up, these mounted up with them: for the spirit of the living creature was in them.
Ezekiel 10:18-19; 18 And the glory of Jehovah went forth from over the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubim. 19 And the cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight when they went forth, and the wheels beside them: and they stood at the door of the east gate of Jehovah’s house, and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
The disciples, like Jeremiah and Ezekiel before were in kind slighted and despised.
And so the apostles and first ministers of the Gospel being filled the Spirit of יהוה; likewise also took their flight from the temple and too turned to the Gentiles – the court of the Gentiles!
Matthew 23:38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
Acts 6:7 And the word of Elohim increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem exceedingly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
Ezekiel 10:20-22; 20 This is the living creature that I saw under the Elohim of Israel by the river Chebar; and I knew that they were cherubim. 21 Every one had four faces, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings. 22 And as for the likeness of their faces, they were the faces which I saw by the river Chebar, their appearances and themselves; they went every one straight forward.
The material difference is the cherub, not an ox; V.22speaks of a cherub and directs the reader back to the river Cheber which is the place of many of Ezekiel’s visions;it does not direct us back to which vision just the location and origin of his multiple visions and now we don’t have to try and convolute the text to make sense of the ox/cherub controversy!
We live in a world that’s subject to turns, and changes, and various revolutions.
