Didn’t Yahuwah say He would never break his covenant (Psalms 89:34)? When the Promise Covenant (Genesis 12) had a death penalty (Genesis 15) added to it, our sin nature was bound to make things messy. When the Israelites sinned at the Golden Calf, Yahuwah made a preparation in His Torah that would allow us to return to the foundational relationship He originally called us to.
Now vuvh had said to Avram, Get out of your country, and from your mishpacha, and from your abba’s bayit, to a land that I will show you:2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a bracha: 3 And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all mishpachot of the earth be blessed – mixed.
Unconditional – YHWH swears by no one higher than Himself – Psalms 110.5 (Avraham requests a signature guarantee > Genesis 15)
Hebrews 6:13 For when Yah made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, :14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
(Specifically Genesis 12:1-3 the Genesis 12 ‘oath’ is a covenant. Yahweh oathed (agreed / covenanted) to Himself ‘to’ bless Abraham AND his descendants; BEFORE Yahweh ever entered into covenant ‘with’ Abraham AND his descendants at Gen.15.
The Promise Covenant with death penalty of Genesis 15
A conditional covenant that can be broken invoking the death penalty (very messianic).
Avraham said, Master vuvh, how shall I know that I shall inherit it? 9 And He said to him, Take a heifer three years old, and a female goat three years old, and a ram three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. 10 And he took for Him all these, and divided them in the midst….
The writer of Hebrews identifies Genesis 12 as the unconditional covenant Hebrews.6:13 – Yahweh swears to Himself by Himself for there was “no greater” – AND – (what most miss) there was no ‘death position’ i.e. no ‘death penalty’ (going between slaughtered halved animals) at Gen.12.The only covenant that can not be broken is one that ‘we’ (as fallible human beings) are not party to (Hebrews 8:8 ‘for finding fault with them …’).
Genesis 15:10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: *’but the birds divided he not’*. :11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away. :12 And when the sun was going down, a deep ‘sleep’ <tardemah> H8639 fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
Abraham was in a trance not asleep you must have two conscious parties to a covenantThe Hebrew <tardemah> can mean lethargy or to put into a trance like state. In this case <tardemah> cannot mean ‘sleep’, for Genesis 15:13 shows Yahuwah speaking to Abram. ‘Yah’ is not the ‘author of confusion’ (1 Corintians 14:33); there is no point to speak and demonstrate where there is no visual or audible conscious perception.
John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
Jeremiah 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with ‘their fathers’ in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant ‘they brake’, although I was an ‘husband unto them’, saith YHWH: (Note: their, they, them; are all 12 Tribes not just Jews verse:31)
Blood Ratified Covenant
The only blood ratified covenant that these ‘fathers’ were physically party to was the ‘Book of the Covenant’ (Exodus 19:5-24:8). The ‘Book of the Covenant’ was the “seal” “inheritance” ‘fulfillment to the promise given. (Galatians 3:17-18) to the Genesis 15 ‘promise’. They (the ‘fathers’ ) did ‘brake’ the “seal” “inheritance” covenant (‘promise realized’) in less than 40 days (Exodus 32). Which may explain why these same ‘fathers’ never again circumcised their children (the much hailed covenant ‘entrance’ sign) for the next 40 years without Yahweh’s mention or wrath (Jos. 5:5); raising a whole new set of speculations, questions and issues (Hebrews 7:11-13).
Galatians 3:17 frames the situation in that the ‘Book of the Covenant’ “inheritance” (v:18) was “430 years” (over 4 centuries) removed from the Genesis 15 ‘promise’. You cannot break a 430 year removed ‘seal’ without breaking the ‘promise’ itself as well.
The Sinai Book of the Covenant (Exodus 19:5-24:8) was that Genesis 15 covenant answer or seal made with Abr’ah’am’s Descendants. But these Descendants broke the ‘answer/ seal’; now the promise had no answer or seal.
Yahusha had the covenant legal right and standing to die in our place – the Genesis 12 oath did not. Hence the Genesis 15 covenant was employed because it could be broken – for a purpose – Yahweh’s plan of salvation purpose. Psalms 89:34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing ‘that is gone out of my lips (Genesis 12:1-3)’
Evidence of the conditional nature of Genesis 15: “cross my heart and hope to die” The crossing of the heart evidences the dividing of flesh; the ‘hope to die’ part directly evidences a ‘death penalty’!
Abraham cut the animals in half ; but the birds he left whole (Genesis 15:10) speaks to Yeshua’s answer.
Breaking the Exodus Book of the Covenant ‘seal’ “answer” (Exodus 19:5-24:8 / Exodus 32:1-10 / Jeremiah 31:31-32 / Galatians 3:17-18) laterally broke the Genesis 15 ‘Promise’ Covenant BUT did NOT involve the Covenanted Oath of YHWH at Genesis 12.
2 Corinthians 3:11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remains is glorious.:12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: :13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is ‘a b o l i s h e d’: (Hebrews 10:1-10)
Hebrews 9:10 “…and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
2 Corinthains 3:13 “ … not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: :14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament.”
You cannot break the ‘seal’ that came 430 years after the promise made without breaking the ‘promise covenant’ itself; that this ‘seal-fulfillment covenant’ (Exodus 19:5-6 – 24:7-8)
Zechariah 11:10 And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant (Genesis 15) which I had made with all the people.
We broke the ‘Book of the Covenant’ , the Exodus 19:5 Covenant answer to the Genesis 15 promise allowing YHWH to break His part, invoking the death position of the Covenant between the pieces……BUT everything is still “wrapped around” His oath of Genesis 12. YHWH’s breaking of the Covenant in no ways breaks the Oath/Covenant of Genesis 12.
Even though these Covenants (Abraham and Sinai) were ultimately broken, YHWH had of Himself made an oath to the then living Abraham. That is why this verse and many others can intelligently state “My Covenant” because it does not mean ‘Our’ Covenant.
Psalms 89:34 “My covenant will I not break (Genesis 12) , nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips (He swore by Himself).”
IT IS NOT A CHANGE ‘OF’ TORAH TO ENACT THE CHANGE ‘IN’ TORAH THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN TORAH.
‘Book of the Covenant’ contains Melchizedek Covenant Law not ‘Book of the Law’ Covenant Law – both are of Torah but we must ‘rightly divide the Word of Truth/Torah.
Jeremiah 31:32 clearly references “the covenant that I made with their fathers”; in context this can only be the covenant at Sinai. The Jeremiah 31:32 declared ‘breaking’ required that the death position for the non- performance of the Genesis 15 covenant be carried out; ergo the crucifixion (John 8:56-58).
Galatians 3:17-19 :17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before … the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. 18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but Yah gave it to Abraham by promise. 19 Wherefore then serveth the law? (book of the law verse:10) It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Law Division – The Rightly Dividing Point
2 Timothy 2:15: Rightly dividing the WORD of TRUTH (Ps 119). This speaks of Torah not OT/NT or Law/Grace. This is the rightly dividing point.
Galatians 3:19 ‘Wherefore then serveth the law? (the Book of the Law v:10) It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; … ‘
Hebrews 9:10 ‘Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.’ <Diorthosis> (specifically) ‘Messianic restoration’.
Acts 3:21 ‘ … until the times of restitution of all things …’ (Peter v:12)
Acts 15:10 Now therefore why tempt ye (Yah), to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Hebrews 7:12 ‘For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.’
The actual ‘Book of the Covenant’ – Exodus 19:5-24:8. A pre and post acceptance with blood ratification (Exodus 24:8) and covenant meal.
Book of the Covenant – Genesis 1:1 – Exodus 24:11
‘Book of the Law’ – Exodus 24:12 – Deuteronomy 31:26
‘Book of the Law’ is first alluded to in Deuteronomy 17:18
“write a copy of this law in a book” Why? Moses already had the ‘Book of the Covenant’ (Exodus 24:7-8). Then in Deuteronomy 28:61 we see “Book of this Law.” BUT it is first mentioned by name (Book of the Law) in Deuteronomy 29:21. this passage is damaging because it presents a HUGE problem. It states “..according to all the CURSES of the Covenant that are written in this Book of the Law,” conclusively showing that we are looking at two distinctly separate books!
The problems begin with the fact that there were NO curse‘s’ (plural) mentioned before, during, or at the initiation of the covenant of Exodus 19:5, concurrent through to it’s ratification of Exodus 24:8,
With the possible exception of Exodus 20:5 “…visiting the iniquities of the father to the third and fourth generation…”(contained in the so named 10 Commandment portion). But this ONE specific individual family limited curse along with the personal restitutions/penalties contained in the ‘Book of the Covenant’ specifications of Exodus Chapters 20-23, do NOT equal the sum total of the personal and national curse‘s’ for class action covenant breaking, contained in the ‘Book of the Law’, expounded in Exodus 25 – 40, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.
The sequential ‘Book of the Covenant’ countdown of Mt. Sinai in ExodusExodus 19:5 The preliminary opening INITIATING statement,
“..if you will obey My voice, and keep My COVENANT then you will be…a special treasure…a Kingdom of (Melchizedek) Priests…a Holy (SET APART) ‘nation’. **(NOTE – 3 conditional national BLESSINGS)
Exodus 19:7-8 The People said, “…All that YHWH has spoken we will do…” (This is Pre-acceptance)
Exodus 19:9-11 The formalities begin… Moses is to sanctify (P U R I F Y) Set-Apart Israel as a people.
Exodus 19:12 “whoever touches the Mt. shall be put to death…” **(NOTE- personal penalty.)
Exodus 20:1 “ …YHWH ‘spoke’ (not wrote [yet]) all these words…”
Exodus 20:2-17 The Ten Commandments (Words)
Exodus 21:1 The Judgments (right rulings) …[Note: includes Feast days]
Exodus 21:1-32 Rights of Persons
Exodus 21:33- Exodus 22:15 Rights of Property
Exodus 22:16-31 Proper Conduct
Exodus 23:1-9 Proper Justice NOTE; Exodus 19:12 to Exodus 23:9 contains – (Exodus 20:4-6 – ONE specific individual family line curse, tempered with another conditional “class action” group BLESSING),… various personal restitutions/penalties (including Death) and NO national curses. Exodus 23:10-33 Deals with things national, v:10-13 the Sabbatical Year, *** v:14-19 the 3 NATIONAL FEASTS (note: while still ‘PURE’…Exodus 19:9-11), v:20-33 Conquest Regulations containing 6 (+) national directives, 12(+) more national blessings (:20-31), and 2(+) national warnings (:v32-33). NO curse’S’ (PLURAL), *** NATIONAL BLESSINGS, “NO” NATIONAL CURSE (&/or) ‘S’ !!!*** >>>>> Note: While still PURIFIED, SANCTIFIED, HOLY/SET-APART !!! <<<<<
Then Exodus 24:1 Moses 6th trip up the Mountain.
Exodus 24:3 Again Moses recites “all the Words of YHWH and all the Judgments” (right- rulings)…
Again the people answer, “…all the words…we will do…” (Agreement)
Exodus 24:4 “Moses wrote all the words of YHWH” (in a book, v:7)
Exodus 24:5 “burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen”
Exodus 24:6 “half the blood sprinkled on the alter”
Exodus 24:7 “the Book of the Covenant”, (again) read to “the people”, again saying “we will do”
ThenExodus 24:8 Moses took the (remaining) blood, “ sprinkled the people” “behold the blood of the Covenant which YHWH has made with you according TO ALL THESE WORDS.” ! RATIFIED ! (Exodus 24:8, Hebrews 9:19) NO adding, NO subtracting (Galatians 3:15) !!!. *Then Exodus 24:9-11 – The Covenant Confirming Meal.
