6:1 Hear therefore, O ye kings, and understand; learn, ye that be judges of the ends of the earth. 2 Give ear, ye that rule the people, and glory in the multitude of nations. 3 For power is given you of the Lord, and sovereignty from the Highest, who shall try your works, and search out your counsels. 4 Because, being ministers of his kingdom, ye have not judged aright, nor kept the law, nor walked after the counsel of God; 5 horribly and speedily shall he come upon you: for a sharp judgment shall be to them that be in high places.
Deuteronomy 17:18-20, where יהוה commands kings to read and study the Torah so they can rule with justice.
Psalm 2:10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve יהוה with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Proverbs 8:15 By me kings reign, and rulers decree what is just. By me princes rule, and nobles, all who govern justly. Wisdom is the key to righteous governance.
We must continue to actively pursue יהוה to overcome adversity and challenges, pray, think and act strategically and with purpose in the face of our difficulties – don’t take them lying down! There is no room for the “woe is me”, mentality!
Here the rulers and leaders are being urged to make wise decisions and act justly because they’ll be judged based on their actions. Solomon calls for those in power to understand their responsibility, act with righteousness, and lead with wisdom.
We have the ability to shape the spiritual and physical world through our choices by wielding wisdom and knowledge honorably we can connect directly to the biblical wisdom of Solomon. If it all comes from יהוה then shouldn’t we act accordingly?
Matthew 7:24-27 Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
1 Corinthians 3:13 Each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
James 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which יהוה has promised to those who love him.
So my trials, your trials serve as crucibles that test our character, wisdom, and ability to remain steadfast in righteousness.
6 For mercy will soon pardon the meanest: but mighty men shall be mightily tormented. 7 For he which is Lord over all shall fear no man’s person, neither shall he stand in awe of any man’s greatness: for he hath made the small and great, and careth for all alike. 8 But a sore trial shall come upon the mighty. 9 Unto you therefore, O kings, do I speak, that ye may learn wisdom, and not fall away. 10 For they that keep holiness holily shall be judged holy: and they that have learned such things shall find what to answer. 11 Wherefore set your affection upon my words; desire them, and ye shall be instructed.
The Book of Judges repeatedly shows how rulers and judges, when they fail to uphold justice, bring disaster upon the people. Samson, failed in his role as a judge by not fully adhering to יהוהs wisdom, which resulted in his downfall. his pursuit of pleasure over divine purpose.
Samson could have relied on יהוהs wisdom, especially the advice and counsel of his parents and the Nazarite vow, to stay on the right path. If he’d humbly accepted his calling and sought wisdom in his decisions, especially in his relationships, he could of avoided his tragic end!
Mighty men shall be mightily tormented (v. 6). Those who abuse their power and pride themselves in their success are ultimately doomed to failure – abuse of power brings the mighty low.
There’s definitely an emphasis on humility here! Mercy will soon pardon the meanest (v. 6).Humility keeps you grounded. Mercy extends to all, regardless of status – it’s the transformative power of humility and repentance.
The light of truth will shine upon the righteous (v. 9). We have to be self-aware and seek the truth, because that’s what brings clarity to those who walk the righteous path.
It’s wisdom again she exalts the righteous and brings them into the light of truth. We have to align ourselves with divine wisdom to gain true spiritual authority.
Matthew 5:3-10…the meek, the merciful, and those who hunger and thirst for righteousness are blessed.
1 Corinthians 1:30 But of Him you are in Messiah Yahusha, who became for us wisdom from Elohim, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.
So wisdom leads to righteousness, which in turn leads to spiritual elevation.
Luke 11:52 Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter yourselves, and those who were entering you hindered.
The ones who reject it hinder their own spiritual advancement.
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of Elohim, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
It’s available to all who seek it!
This wisdom is not merely intellectual but spiritual, because it’s transformative – it transforms losses into wins, darkness into light, disease into health which enables transformation and empowerment that we bring to our present circumstances.
The wicked are into self mastery too, but they miss the bus…mastery—of worldly possessions or power isn’t where its at…but mastery of our inner self, actions, and purpose that’s what really matters!
12 Wisdom is glorious, and never fadeth away: yea, she is easily seen of them that love her, and found of such as seek her. 13 She preventeth them that desire her, in making herself first known unto them. 14 Whoso seeketh her early shall have no great travail: for he shall find her sitting at his doors. 15 To think therefore upon her is the perfection of wisdom: and whoso watcheth for her shall quickly be without care. 16 For she goeth about seeking such as are worthy of her, sheweth herself favourably unto them in the ways, and meeteth them in every thought. 17 For the very true beginning of her is the desire of discipline; and the care of discipline is love;
Success requires wisdom—the ability to make smart, strategic decisions and to see things beyond surface appearances—how they really are. Solomon’s call to a perseverance and a mindful dedication to finding that very wisdom.
Proverbs 8:1-11 personifies wisdom, describing her as calling out to all people.
Psalm 111:10 tells us that “The fear of יהוה is the beginning of wisdom” – true wisdom begins with reverence and awe for יהוה, which leads to obedience to His will.
In the Book of Job, wisdom is seen as a rare and precious thing: “Where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?” (Job 28:12).
Wisdom is radiant and unfading (v. 12). Wisdom, once found, shines brightly and remains steady, regardless of our circumstances.
Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
This is active pursuit and perseverance in our seeking out wisdom.
Luke 11:9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
Pursuit brings clarity and understanding.
1 Corinthians 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of Elohim in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which Elohim ordained before the ages for our glory…
It’s radiant and unfading but it does require a diligent search to be found. Why because IT’S HIDDEN!
18 and love is the keeping of her laws; and the giving heed unto her laws is the assurance of incorruption; 19 and incorruption maketh us near unto God: 20 therefore the desire of wisdom bringeth to a kingdom. 21 If your delight be then in thrones and sceptres, O ye kings of the people, honour wisdom, that ye may reign for evermore. 22 As for wisdom, what she is, and how she came up, I will tell you, and will not hide mysteries from you: but will seek her out from the beginning of her nativity, and bring the knowledge of her into light, and will not pass over the truth. 23 Neither will I go with consuming envy; for such a man shall have no fellowship with wisdom. 24 But the multitude of the wise is the welfare of the world: and a wise king is the upholding of the people. 25 Receive therefore instruction through my words, and it shall do you good.
Wisdom isn’t handed to you just as success isn’t handed to you, it must be strived for, and wisdom, in the same way, must be pursued endlessly!
There’ s an eternal quality—the keeping the torah is directly connected to immortality. Commandment keeping is יהוהs way of long-term planning, it equips the saint to endure, to establish a legacy.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20, יהוה gives life through obedience to His commandments: “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live.”
Proverbs equates wisdom with life: “For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life” (Proverbs 6:23).
Ecclesiastes 12:13 also speaks of the importance of keeping יהוהs commandments: “Fear Elohim and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”
The idea of wisdom leading to eternal life is deeply rooted in the Tanakh. Proverbs 8:35 says, “For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from יהוה”
Psalm 19:7,“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of יהוה is sure, making wise the simple.” Wisdom, as the embodiment of Torah, leads to the restoration of life.
The reward of wisdom leads to a kingdom—Matthew 6:33 Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Wisdom is thus linked to kingdom dominion, and the Son teaches that those who seek wisdom and righteousness will inherit His Father’s kingdom.
(v 21-24)
The pursuit of wisdom can’t be a superficial pursuit it’s a real genuine commitment: “only those who seek her are worthy of her (v. 21). We have to “pursue smarter” by seeking knowledge and understanding through the right means—the holy spirit! This can’t be fleeting but must be sought out with dedication.
(v. 25)
“The breath of the power of Elohim” reminds me of Beresheeth 1:2 where the Spirit of יהוה moves over the waters—meaning wisdom isn’t just some intellectual pursuit—but deeply spiritual. The breath of divine power is likened unto the Holy Spirit’s role in empowering us as believers, just like in John 14:26, where the Holy Spirit teaches all things.
